Fostering Effective Relationships
A farewell card made by my Grade 7 Homeroom during my Field III Placement.
In all classrooms I aim to build a warm and welcoming community where each student feels safe. One of the biggest takeaways that I have had throughout my teaching degree is that connection and building relationships with your students is one of the most important things and is what makes this career even more fulfilling. One of the ways I aim to build these relationships is by acting consistently with fairness, respect, and integrity towards all of my students. As highlighted in one of the messages from the card, my students were grateful for and responded well to the welcoming community I was able to create in the classroom. By demonstrating empathy and a genuine caring for my students, I was able to really get to know them on a deeper level, and help them feel a sense of belonging in the classroom. Additionally, I also aim to honour cultural diversity and promote intercultural understanding by encouraging students to be proud of their diverse and unique personalities and incorporate diverse ways of learning in the classroom.
